Powered
by sunshine
Replacement batteries
are not required to power this hearing aid. An integral solar panel
provides enough power to run the unit and top-up the built-in rechargeable
battery. Even when being used in ordinary daylight the solar
panel reduces battery drain. Exposure to full sunshine will give
40 hours use for every one hour of exposure. From being fully charged
the hearing aid will run for typically 450 hours in the dark, any
daylight or sunshine falling on the unit will extend this time.
As an example, 4 hours in bright sunshine will run the unit for
a week. Charging the
battery is independent of the position of the ON/OFF switch.

Designed
for a developing world
Built for hot climates, harsh conditions and rough handling, Sound
Seeker is tough and has protection against the effects of humidity
and condensation.
The unit body is robust and compact measuring 60 x 40 x 18 mm excluding
clip. Manufactured in ultra-violet (UV) stabilised polycarbonate,
the casing is extremely tough and especially resistant to damage
by UV radiation contained in sunlight. A combined ON/OFF and volume
control is operated by a sturdy thumbwheel and the two-pin earpiece
connection is compatible with most receiver systems and is sufficiently
powerful to drive 'Y' cord-sets.
Overall weight is
50 grams.
